   The third most important pillar (out of four) for successful चकित्सा (treatment) mentioned in Ayurved, contains उपस्थाता i.e. परिचारक or Nurse.

   In the procedures adopted by aiming at धातु साम्यता and thus in व्याधिहरण thirdly importance is given to परिचारक’s.

   As the औषधि कल्पना’s like स्वरस, कल्क, क्वाथ, चूर्ण, हिम, फाण्ड, अनुपान etc will be prepared by them.

   It is mentioned that, person alone is fit to nurse or to attend the bedside of a patient, who is cool handed and pleasant, who does not speak ill of anybody, is strong and attentive to the requirements of the sick and who strictly follows the instructions of the Physician.

    The परिचारक’s assistance along with the Physician is also valuable for achieving success in व्याधिहरण.
