आयुष्यं मंगलं पुण्यं वृष्यं वर्ण्यं ग्रहापहम् ।।

मासात् परममेधावी व्याधिभिर्नच धृष्यते।

षड्भिर्मासैः श्रुतधरः सुवर्णप्राशनाद् भवेत् ।।

In Ayurved text, Acharya Kashyapa has mentioned about “Suvarnaprashana Sanskar". Suvarnaprashana is a comprehensive Rasayana Chikitsa which signifies the administration of Gold along with ghee, honey, Medhya (intellect improving) and Rasayana (rejuvenative) herbs in Leha form.

As per the classics, administration of Suvarnaprashana should be done on Pushya Nakshatra. Pushya means ‘to nourish’ and hence this Nakshatra provides energy and power. 

Suvarnaprashana can be given to the age group of 0 to 16 years as it acts at the level of nutrition, metabolism, growth, physical-mental & spiritual development, physical strength, and immunity.

  It is the Only type of Gold preparation described with its specific benefits according to the duration of administration.
